On a nice spring day some of my coworkers and I went for a lovely leisurely bicycle ride to the park. Part of the reason for the bicycle ride was to test out a route that we're planning to do for bike week in May. We met up in front of our building. Two of my coworkers went over to the new Zagster bike share to grab a couple bikes for the ride. Yay - now we can bicycle around work anytime we want without having to bike to work.

This is the route that we took:

  • North on Timmons
  • Walk bikes across Westheimer (and waited in the median for a safe moment to do the other crossing across Westheimer)
  • Biked thru the parking lot next to the tennis courts
  • Took the cut-thru to Timber
  • North on Timber
  • East (turned right) on Meadow Lake
  • South (turned right) on Larchmont
  • East (turned left -- around the roundabout) on Ella Lee
  • Went around the roundabout at Briarwood, then headed back west on Ella Lee
  • South (turned left -- around the roundabout) on Larchmont
  • West (turned right) on Locke -- and then there's the park!

It was such a great, easy bicycle ride. It's perfect for beginners, children, and older adults alike. It took us about 15 minutes to do this bike ride. We had lunch at the park and then went back south on Timmons to work.

There are amenities at River Oaks Park -- restrooms, drinking fountains, picnic tables, and lots of shade from big trees! I highly recommend this ride. Test it out yourself and let us know how you like it!
