Hawthorne.

It's a nice, quiet street in Montrose. It's a great east-west connector. There are parts of this street in Montrose that are less calm. Primarily, this is around Montrose Blvd. But once you get through that intersection it is smooth sailing. One of the best things about Hawthorne is the big trees! When the temperature heats up, you'll really cherish these big trees and their lovely shade. Hawthorne is a pretty long quiet street. It goes from Woodhead on the west to Bagby on the east.

Hawthorne also has this really interesting connector. It's almost like a little hidden nook. I never would have known about it until someone showed it to me.

It doesn't look like much on an aerial map, but at street level it's this little sidewalk that leads you through the bushes to a painted crosswalk. Be patient and wait for the pedestrian -- drivers are going fast in this area since they are hopping onto the freeway from this location. Once you get the pedestrian signal, slowly bike to the next corner and wait (again) for the pedestrian signal to get you across the next leg of the intersection. You will then notice a nice block of green painted bike lanes - yay! This new green painted section is on Holman.
