About once a month or more I'll join a social bike ride. This weekend I joined Bayou City Outdoors for their Graffiti Art Bike Ride. It was so much fun!

Here is the route that we took:

About 200 people signed up for this ride. That's a lot of people. Typically, when you have a group this big, then it is pretty easy to take a lane and motor vehicle traffic generally lets you by without much fuss. Additionally, biking in downtown Houston on a Sunday is the easiest day to bike because there is very little car traffic.

On a normal day, you probably wouldn't bike down La Branch in downtown Houston. Most of the streets that we biked on are actually pretty bikeable by yourself. I have biked down most of these streets several times by myself and did not have any problems. There is generally less traffic in EaDo than in other nearby parts, and the drivers that I've encountered in this part of Houston have been pretty nice.

The two areas that I would highlight are by Crawford/Anita and Leeland/St. Emanuel. These two areas have a lot of graffiti art and were my favorite areas of the bike ride.

See art by bike.

Houston has some really great street art.

Hope on your bike and go explore!

And don't forget to take your camera and snap up some pics.
